As one of the largest tire manufacturers worldwide, Michelin produces special tires for almost every means of transport: for cars, vans, trucks, buses, agricultural machinery, earthmoving machinery, special vehicles, light rail vehicles, subways, airplanes, motorcycles, scooters and bicycles. The product portfolio covers a wide spectrum: The smallest tires have a diameter of 20 centimetres, the lightest tires weigh just over 200 grams. The largest dump truck tire has a diameter of over four meters and weighs more than five tons. Every seventh tire worldwide comes from the Michelin Group

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Motor sport is an important driving force in the development of new solutions. Michelin has been involved here for many years to test technologies under the toughest conditions and then quickly transfer them to series products. The company invests around three quarters of a billion euros in research and development every year. More than 6,000 employees in nine research and development centers work around the globe on the transformation towards safe, clean and efficient mobility. 247 patents filed in 2021 alone underpin the company's unbridled drive for innovation, and more than 10,000 active patents worldwide strengthen Michelin's leading market position.
THE MICHELIN MAN: MORE THAN A BRAND
He is known around the world and for many people he is the figure of identification: the Michelin man. Hard to believe that the eternally young Michelin man is already approaching his 130th birthday. In 1894, company founder Édouard Michelin saw a wrapped stack of tires at the world exhibition in Lyon, in which he recognized human-like features - the rest is history. Today, the Michelin man is much more than a logo: lively, personable, honest and with a high reputation. For the Financial Times it is the best logo ever (2000).
